Northern Cambria School District Mourns the Loss of 11 th Grade Student in Fatal Accident
Northern Cambria, PA – It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that the Northern Cambria
School District announces the tragic passing of 17-year-old student, McKenna Gardner, who
died in an automobile accident on Sunday morning.
McKenna was a dedicated student and beloved member of the Northern Cambria High School
community, She will be remembered for her vivacious spirit, kindness, and the positive impact
she had on those around her. As a student, she was known for her determination, her
involvement in school activities and events, and her unwavering friendship to classmates and
faculty alike.
"We are heartbroken by this tragic loss," said Alan Johnson, Superintendent of the Northern
Cambria School District. "McKenna's presence in our school was a gift to all who knew her. Our
thoughts and prayers are with her family, friends, and all who are grieving this devastating loss.
Likewise we continue to hold up in our thoughts and prayers the other students who were injured
in this accident"
The district will be providing counseling services for students, staff, and the community as they
struggle to work through this difficult time. Ms Lisa Prebish, principal of the Northern Cambria
School District will be coordinating the provision and deployment of grief counseling services.
We encourage anyone who needs help coping with this tragedy to reach out for support if they
need it.
Funeral arrangements and memorial services will be announced by the family in the coming
days.
The Northern Cambria School District community stands united in mourning and in offering
support to McKenna’s family during this incredibly difficult time.
